Ok my fiance really doesnt have a problem with me using coupons. We usually go shopping on wednesday's because thats when the new ad starts and he's gotten paid by then
.
So wednesday comes this week and he doesnt come home when he should have. Well I figured he got held up at work or whatever not a biggie I trust my fiance.
So he comes home and Im dressed and ready to go to town. He comes in with a few bags from the store. I just glare at him with a death look. He says I didnt want to go back to town so I got the stuff to make spaghetti. I said oh ok. I watch him unload the bags of stuff. I notice he got ragu spaghetti sauce so I said oh you went to safeway? He says no I went to thriftee. I just hung my head and walked away. Safeway has the ragu sauce on sale for .99 this week! Its on my shoppig list I was getting 5 jars for 1.96 after the coupons! He comes in and says whats wrong? I was like I gotta know, how much did you spend on those 2 jars of sauce, he says 3.00. "is that 3.00 per jar or 3.00 for the 2 jars?" "3.00 per jar" OMG I thought I was gonna fall out of my chair!!! He's all "what?" I sat here and calmed down. I told him I had my list and coupons ready for today. Im sorry I just didnt want to go back to town. Ok fine. Then I throw the killer at him. I tell him "well I could have gotten 5 jars of the SAME sauce for 1.96 at safeway!" Then I whip around and ask him did you at least get the noodles that are onsale or did you buy the more expensive ones? Oh no I got the ones on sale they were a dollar a bag! I was shocked that he was excited over finding them! Then he says I was gonna get some garlic bread but I figured you'd have yelled cause you probaly have a coupon for it. Now I couldnt help laughing at this and I told him nope no coupon for that.
So my question is: Do you think my fiance is trainable??
For years my family has called me the coupon queen. I've used coupons on and off since before I was 18! I remember sitting on sundays at my sisters house and watching her match the coupons with her flyers and making her list. This was over 10yrs ago! I dont know maybe I got it from her or from liking that extra bit of money in my pocket every week. Now of course Im not a coupon queen right now but I dont do bad and hey I do like the title Queen LOL. Back when my oldest daughter was about 2 and my middle daughter was a newborn my ex would bring home extra coupons from work. We'd be in a store and he'd say something like oh look this is on sale, either he or my cousin would follow with "I bet Heather has a coupon for it" I'd turn around look at the product and with a smile on my face say "Of course I do!". They always picked on me but it never bothered me. I love savings! Rather its using coupons, shopping thrift stores, getting items from people that are free or whatever. Its very rare I turn down something if its free! My moto "if its free its for me!"

Maybe he will learn lol
ReplyDeleteMy husband took to it very quickly. We are a 1-income family w/ 3 little kids and it made us immediately much more comfortable. Not only did I cut the grocery bills, but we had so much good food at home that we stopped eating out almost completely, so that saved us a TON! We have a joint bank account so he was able to really see the impact of my shopping costs going down. IDK how your setup is but who knows, he could just not have "seen the light" yet :D
Some people just don't get it though, and if your fiance is one of those people... lol you are in for a lifetime of these exchanges :D
P.S Isn't Swagbucks cool? I am almost to my first $5 card, so exciting!!!
