Very Bummed with Walgreens
Today I decided to hit Walgreens. They are having a awesome sale on the Garnier Fructis Hair Care Items (shampoo/conidtioner/hairsprays/moose/gels) all for 2.99. Well after the Easy Saver Coupon its .99. Well then I have 1.00/1 coupons which would make this shampoo FREE! I went with 10 coupons for shampoo/conditioner and 3 for gels. They were completely out! I did managed to find 1 bottle of shampoo but that was it!!! I was so upset! I asked the girl stocking in that area if they'd get more soon. She said MAYBE friday but she doubted it! The sale just started on Sunday and they are out and dont think they will get more before the sale ends? What the heck?!
So ok I walk over about 4 aisles and look for the Glade Plugins Scented oil lasting impressions and the glade sese and spray kit both are onsale for 7.99. Minus the easy saver coupon of 4.00 takes them to 3.99. Again I have coupons for 4.00/1 (for both) which makes them FREE! Again completely out! I asked again, same answer maybe friday! So Im totally bummed. I grabbed a bag of cough drops and headed to the register. I did grab 2 cool pens on the way lol. They are hard to explain so I'll get a pic and post them they are just awesome and so me!
I did manage to get 3 rainchecks. 1 is for 2 of the sense and sprays, 1 is for the lasting impressions (2 of each) and the other one for 10 shampoos/conditioners. The manager just kinda looked at me funny when I said 10. I explained I suffer from migraines and this is the only shampoo that does not bother me. The rest have strong scents and they do really bother me. After I explained that to her she was cool with it. And just cause they were out I think Im gonna go in on friday and see if they have any and if not more rain checks baby! I dont ever clean the shelves like this this was so totally insane. I even told the manager it was crazy that here it is tuesday and they were completely out of all the sale items and may or maynot get them in on friday. She said sorry and that was it. Grrrr!!!

Safeway trip 3/7/09
So off to safeway my fiance and I go today. I had my list and everything ready. I didnt take my binder (I know bad me) because I was wanting to only stick to my list. Theres so many deals right now at safeway. I wanted to cash in on the cereal deal (buy 5 save 5.00) and then the frozen food deal (buy 25.00 get a 10.00 cat good on your next frozen food purchase). So we head off and I have my list done by section so I knew what to get in what section. They were out of the frozen pizza today so I got a different kind for pretty much the same price. Then we hit the cereal and they are out of every kind I brought coupons for except for the .99 frosted mini wheats (the one that goes with the instore coupon) so I said oh well and didnt get any but the one box. I did get like 4 things not on my list but I figured I wasnt getting certain items I could splurge and get these. I got way to much stuff to list but heres how I did:
Total before club card or coupons: 139.54
Club card savings (I also have a 10% savings on my card til 4/30): 60.33
Total Coupons: 18.99
Total savings: 84.14....61%
Total out of pocket: 55.40!
When the cashier told me my final price I said WOW really loud. I had several people turn and look at me lol. The lady that was behind me said oh wow too. I just smiled. I got the 10.00 cat for the frozen food deal so in my eyes I only spent 45.40 and my house is pretty well stocked for awhile. My fiance called me the coupon master LOL. I said well I know I am but its all thanks to AFC! He has been so proud that I saved so much today he has told everyone! His father, his mother, his sister. I dont think he has talked to 1 person and not told them how well I did. I love it lol.

I saved 23.95 (66%) tonight!!!
There was a guy infront of me who was young and he had a bill of like 95.xx well the manager was checking us out and he asked the young man if he had a the 10.00 off 50.00 coupon (they were giving them away as you walked in!). The guy just looked at him like what? I said here take it out of this book I have another book of these at home. The manager was like are you sure? I was oh yeah go ahead. I mean the guy was young and he had a baby with him, I figured that 10.00 I helped him save could go for diapers or something else for the baby. The manager thanked me and I was like yeah no problem. The guy on the other hand acted like he couldnt be bothered with a coupon and never thanked me. I didnt mind though I just smiled at him, his wife and the cute baby. I really didnt mind because I knew my total wasnt gonna be over 50.00 to use that coupon and they were giving these coupon books out like they were hotcakes at ihop tonight so it wasnt a big deal to me. My fiance told me that he knows the guy and they have money. I said well ya know what in this day and age it dont hurt to save a extra 10bucks and use it for that baby!
So then as we walked out of the store my fiance pretended to bow down to me and tell me I was awesome. He couldnt believe how cheap everything was. And those steaks were HUGE!!! Needless to say our dogs got some great leftovers tonight!
Our store was out of the .99 kellogs frosted mini wheats but the manager that rang me up had no problems giving me a raincheck. I about danced out of the store knowing when they do get them instock I'll get 1 box for .29 cause I also have a coupon for .70/1 woohooo!!! I love frosted mini wheats and love them even better at that price!!!
Again I owe all these savings to AFC! Without the help of others I dont think I could have done this good. I didnt know about the printable 3.50/1 cat food til someone posted about it. How awesome is that!!! So if your still not sure about joining all I can say is do so! You'll be amazed at what you save! In a month's time of being on the site I have saved OVER 300.00!!!! Thats alot of money!!! Tomorrow I'll get all my savings totaled up and posted so everyone can see what I saved with coupons all because of AFC!

My binder

Here are 2 pictures of my binder. The left side of the binder is all household, hba, and pet items. The right side is all food items. The pencil case in the middle of picture 2 is what holds my safeway club card, cats for ONYO and any other safeway store coupons I have. The item you see in picture 1 that is on the left side (with the yello paper showing) holds my pens, calculator, and a name/address card incase I forget the binder somewhere they will know who it belongs to.

Will he ever learn?
Ok my fiance really doesnt have a problem with me using coupons. We usually go shopping on wednesday's because thats when the new ad starts and he's gotten paid by then
.
So wednesday comes this week and he doesnt come home when he should have. Well I figured he got held up at work or whatever not a biggie I trust my fiance.
So he comes home and Im dressed and ready to go to town. He comes in with a few bags from the store. I just glare at him with a death look. He says I didnt want to go back to town so I got the stuff to make spaghetti. I said oh ok. I watch him unload the bags of stuff. I notice he got ragu spaghetti sauce so I said oh you went to safeway? He says no I went to thriftee. I just hung my head and walked away. Safeway has the ragu sauce on sale for .99 this week! Its on my shoppig list I was getting 5 jars for 1.96 after the coupons! He comes in and says whats wrong? I was like I gotta know, how much did you spend on those 2 jars of sauce, he says 3.00. "is that 3.00 per jar or 3.00 for the 2 jars?" "3.00 per jar" OMG I thought I was gonna fall out of my chair!!! He's all "what?" I sat here and calmed down. I told him I had my list and coupons ready for today. Im sorry I just didnt want to go back to town. Ok fine. Then I throw the killer at him. I tell him "well I could have gotten 5 jars of the SAME sauce for 1.96 at safeway!" Then I whip around and ask him did you at least get the noodles that are onsale or did you buy the more expensive ones? Oh no I got the ones on sale they were a dollar a bag! I was shocked that he was excited over finding them! Then he says I was gonna get some garlic bread but I figured you'd have yelled cause you probaly have a coupon for it. Now I couldnt help laughing at this and I told him nope no coupon for that.
So my question is: Do you think my fiance is trainable??
For years my family has called me the coupon queen. I've used coupons on and off since before I was 18! I remember sitting on sundays at my sisters house and watching her match the coupons with her flyers and making her list. This was over 10yrs ago! I dont know maybe I got it from her or from liking that extra bit of money in my pocket every week. Now of course Im not a coupon queen right now but I dont do bad and hey I do like the title Queen LOL. Back when my oldest daughter was about 2 and my middle daughter was a newborn my ex would bring home extra coupons from work. We'd be in a store and he'd say something like oh look this is on sale, either he or my cousin would follow with "I bet Heather has a coupon for it" I'd turn around look at the product and with a smile on my face say "Of course I do!". They always picked on me but it never bothered me. I love savings! Rather its using coupons, shopping thrift stores, getting items from people that are free or whatever. Its very rare I turn down something if its free! My moto "if its free its for me!"

Ways to get coupons
There are TONS of ways to get coupons!
First is the sunday papers. There can be up to 5 inserts in the paper at times. Usually there are 2, 1 is a smartsource and 1 is a redplum (vlassis). Once a month there will be a p&g insert as well. Sometimes we get very lucky and theres 2 smartsources or 2 redplums.
After you register with AFC you can find tons of links to printable coupons, including target coupons!
Ask your friends, family, neighbors for their unwanted coupons.
Become friends with your paper carrier and ask if you can get some extra inserts.
Check out local paper recycling bins for them!
On AFC you can trade for coupons, bid on auctions of coupons, join coupon trains.
You can buy coupons from coupon clipping places.
Check the magazines you get for coupons
Sign up for free samples, these usually come with coupons as well
Seriously theres tons of ways to get the coupons you need! Once you register on AFC you will learn all these ways and probaly more!!
*just a note, when you "buy" coupons you are NOT buying the actual coupon, you are paying for the persons time to find, clip and send the coupon to you.*

Being organized
One thing that is very important when couponing is being organized. Having a box full of coupons and trying to find one will drive you crazy! There are many ways to organize your coupons. Here are a few ways:
a binder (which has the baseball card sheets in it)...you can find full instructions on how to make one of these on AFC. I used the binder 5yrs ago and loved it! I just went back to it. To me personally its the best method!
a small accordian file, you can get these at tons of stores. The dollar tree's sell the paper style ones, walmart sells some that are the length of a business envelope and made of sturdy plastic. I've used both of these as well. The paper ones dont hold many coupons before they rip. The plastic style one worked great but yeah I got way to many coupons so had to upgrade.
You could store all your coupons in envelopes that are marked by catagories. Just remember dont leave your coupons at the store!
I for one anytime I go to the store I take my entire binder with me. I dont leave home without it. Why? Because what happens if something is on clearance and I know I have a coupon for it but oh dang left the binder at home. Well sure you could go back tomorrow but who's to say that item will still be there? Dont risk it at least take it and leave it in the car so you can run to the car to get it!
On Sundays I go get 1-3 papers from the gas station down the road. I sit and cut out all coupons, sort and file them in the binder. Doing this right away I find is best. This insures me that they are all in there for when I go shopping the following day.
Get the local paper for when your stores sale ads come out. If the grocery stores flyers come out on wednesdays get it then, if they come out sundays remember to get that paper when your getting the big ones for the inserts! This way you can visually look at the flyer and coupons. Plus you can take that flyer with you to the stores as well.
All in all its about being organized. If you can get tons of inserts from the sunday papers you dont have to cut them all and have them all filed in your binder or whatever you choose to use. The ones you plan to use you will want organized one way or another. When you go shopping make sure you have a writen list of what you are getting, what coupons to use and the final price after the coupon. Make sure to have all the coupons you plan to use pulled and set somewhere for easy access.
If theres items in a flyer that I think I may be interested in I write them down as items to look at. I pull those coupons out as well and paperclip them together. That way if it comes down to it I can pull that coupon if its a great deal.

Really this isnt bad for my first trip. My local Safeway does double coupons up to .50 so thats always a plus! My fiance hates to grocery shop but because I was having to go help him at his bosses house he decided to just deal with it and not complain. We actually had fun and joked alot while shopping. He was impressed with my savings. And because we were in such a hurry to get out of the store we forgot our oranges! We finally got home, brought it all into the house and I got it all put away when I realized they were missing. I called the store and the lady was very nice and told me yes she had them. I told her I'd be in on wednesday to get them and gave her my name.

Walmart trip on 2/13/09
Well again I was at walmart last night. I swear sometimes I think I live at that store and I dislike going to it but its the only store in town that sells bunny food thats open past 5pm and the only store that sells dog food that doesnt give our puppy icky gas that can stink anyone out of a room! So off to get dog food and well of course other items too! I had alot of FREE coupons so I decided to use them woohoo!
Now I also price matched the hormel pork tenderlions. I asked a csm when I got to the store and she said yes I could price match them. So I grabbed 2 thinking I'd be paying 4.99 each then the 1.00/1 coupon it would be 3.99 each. Well I wasnt paying to close attention when the cashier had problems with pricematching these and the csm came over. I was trying to load up my bags and tell the people behind me I was sorry. So When I got home I looked over the receipt and noticed that the csm had told the cashier to take 4.99 OFF each one instead of 3.00 off each one! So I got the tenderlions for 1.48 each after they pricematched and took the 2 1.00/1 coupons off!
My receipt is way to crazy to try and figure out but here are my totals:
Total Before Coupons: 59.76
Total Coupons: 30.64
Total OOP: 29.12
Really a pretty good trip just the hassle of pricematching and the cashier not knowing how to do it correctly and the mean looks from people behind me and the night before Valentines day what was I thinking!?! But I was happy I got a good amount of food most of it free because of free coupons I had (just by simply emailing the company and telling them I enjoyed their product). Just dont think I will pricematch again unless its really worth it and theres tons of lanes open and never again on a night before a holiday. My savings on this trip was just a tad bit over 50%!! All thanks to AFC!

A Full Cup-the best site to help save money!
Like many people these days my fiance and I are feeling the money crunch. I was introduced to A Full Cup (AFC) by someone on another site. She told me it would help me save tons of money. Well I knew how to coupon because I was big into about 5yrs ago. I knew of a few sites but I knew they wouldnt offer what I really needed. So this lady sends me the like to AFC. I instantly registered and started having fun. At first the site can seem a bit much but once you look around and play for a bit you'll get the hang of it.
First stop is the welcome mat, thats where you can introduce yourself, everyone always gets a very nice warm welcome from tons of the members!
Next stop browse around, look at the forums In the second forum area called "It's a deal" you will find all the stores listed. Most big name stores have their own forums to help you save the money. Theres a coupon forum to tell you what coupons are out (rather catalina's, blinkies, peelies, isnert, non-ss, tearpads, magazines, printables etc.). Theres also a forum for refunding, here you can find out what forms are currently out, the details of the forum. There is a area for freebies as well! Who doesnt love freebies?! Theres a chit chat area where you can talk about just about anything and the list goes on. Theres TONS to do on this site!!
In each stores forum you will find a shopping list, this shopping tells you what the current sales are for that store along with any coupons that are out for that product! The shopping list assistants do all the work for you (along with the help of mods/forum leaders and admins). The very nice, friedly and welcoming ladies and gents on the site post any and all good deals they find in the store. They break down things to show you what the price is, what coupon to use and your final price even if its in the shopping list they still post in the forum!
If your feeling the money crunch check it out. Link is to the right of the screen. Already in less then a month of being a member I have saved OVER 200.00. I dont have all the money in the world to shop. I am limited to max of 75.00 each week which seems like alot but really isnt when that has to include doggie food for 3 dogs and the bunnies food and bedding. I dont have alot of stores to shop at either mainly 3 stores Safeway, Walgreens and Walmart. I dont do Walgreens that much but the forum for Walgreens has TONS of deals always posted! So what are you waiting for? Come join us at AFC you wont be sorry!!
